Guide | How to Install TWRP recovery and Root Samsung Galaxy J7 with ODIN.

Flash TWRP and Root Samsung Galaxy J7. On this guide below we will show you how to flash or install TWRP recovery and root the Samsung Galaxy J7 smartphone. If you want to install a custom ROM or Root the device you must install this recovery. By installing TWRP you will be able to boot into the partition and access all file stored in phone without load Android OS system. If the Android operating system doesn't loaded the files aren't in internal memory. So, the user will able to accessed, edited and replaced. There are many method to install TWRP recovery into Samsung Galaxy J7, one of them is installing with ODIN software. 

Samsung Galaxy J7 is one of the famous smartphone from Samsung manufacturer, Samsung Galaxy J7 released on 2015, June. comes with 5,5 inches Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors. Powered by Octa-core (4x1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4x1.0 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU, Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 chipset, Adreno 405 GPU. Supported with 1,5 GB of RAM. Combined with 13 MP of primary camera and 5 MP of secondary camera. This device run on Android OS, v5.1 (Lollipop), upgradable to v6.0.1 (Marshmallow). These are Samsung Galaxy J7 versions ;
  • J700M (LATAM)
  • J700F (India, Thailand)
  • J700H with no LTE (Pakistan,South Africa, Vietnam)

Flashing TWRP Recovery.

To start this tutorial, make sure all file below already downloaded and save on the computer folder.
  1. ODIN flash tool, Download and extract.   Here

  3. SUperSU, download and put the file on the root directory of SD Card. Here

  5. TWRP recovery 
    • Go to twrp.me
    • Click device.
    • Search for TWRP for your device at the search bar.
    • For example type : Samsung Galaxy J7 and hit enter.

    • Then click your Samsung Galaxy J7 versions at the search result.
    • Scroll down and find download links.
  6. Now, put your Samsung Galaxy J7 at download mode. How to do this ?
    • Press and hold Volume Down button + Power Button + Home Button at the same time.
  7. Release all button if you see a warning on Samsung Galaxy J7 screen.

  8. Use volume UP button to continue, or use volume down button to cancel and restart phone.
  9. If you press Volume UP it will go to Download Mode.

  10. Now connect your Samsung Galaxy J7 to the PC using USB cable.
  11. Now, run ODIN program on your computer.
  12. Once ODIN window opens, your Samsung Galaxy J7 will detected on certain COM, for example COM4.
  13. Now click AP button to load TWRP recovery you have saved before.

  15. Once TWRP recovery already inserted to the ODIN software, now click Start button.
  16. Just wait a while until finish. The device will restart automatically and boot into TWRP mode.
  17. Now, just slide to allow modifications. and now you are in TWRP main menu.

    Root Samsung Galaxy J7.

    1. From the TWRP recovery main menu tap install
    2. Now, navigate to SD Card and search for the file (UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip)
    3. Now, Swap to confirm flash. Just wait the flashing process
    4. Once flashing process finished, now tap wipe cache/dalvik and swap to wipe
    5. Then back to TWRP home-screen, and tap Reboot and select System.
    6. Now the Samsung Galaxy J7 will reboot.
    7. Once this device boot up and ready to use, you can download root-checker form GooglePlay to check root status.
    8. Finish, now your Samsung Galaxy J7 already have root access.
