Guide | How to Install TWRP Recovery and Root Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016).

Install TWRP and Root Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016). This guide below will show you how to flash or install TWRP recovery and root Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016). This method use ODIN software to help flash TWRP recovery. TWRP is free recovery you can download from Teamwin official website. TWRP is one of the famous android recovery, this recovery has the large button to access all menu. By installing TWRP recovery on Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) the user will able to install custom ROM, kernels, add-ons (e.g. Gapps), other mods and root the device.

Prerequisites.

Make sure to download all requirements file below to flash TWRP recovery and root Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016).
  1. First, download ODIN flash tool, then extract it on your computer folder. Here

  3. Second, Downlaod SuperSU from link below and put the file on the root directory of SD Card. Here

  5. Third, TWRP recovery 
    • Go to twrp.me
    • Click device.
    • Search for TWRP for your device at the search bar.
    • For example type : Samsung Galaxy J3 2016 and hit enter.

  6. Then click your Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) versions at the search result.
  7. Scroll down and find download links.
  8. Then, put your Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) to download mode. How to do this ?
    • Press and hold Volume Down button + Power Button + Home Button at the same time.
  9. Release all button if you see a warning on Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) screen.

  10. You can use volume UP button to continue, or use volume down button to cancel and restart phone.
  11. If you press Volume UP it will go to Download Mode.

  12. Then, connect your Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) to the PC using USB cable.
  13. It's time to launch ODIN software from the desktop icon.
  14. Once ODIN window appear, your Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) will detected on certain COM, for example COM4.
  15. Now click AP button to load TWRP recovery previously downloaded.

  17. Once TWRP recovery already inserted to the ODIN software, now click Start button.
  18. Just wait a while until finish. The device will restart automatically and boot into TWRP mode.
  19. Now, just slide to allow modifications. and now you are in TWRP main menu.

  20. Root Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016).

    1. Boot your Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) into recovery mode.
    2. From the TWRP recovery main menu tap install
    3. Now, navigate to SD Card and search for the file (UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip)
    4. Then, Swap to confirm flash. Just wait the flashing process
    5. Once flashing process finished, now tap wipe cache/dalvik and swap to wipe
    6. Then back to TWRP home-screen, and tap Reboot and select System.
    7. Now the Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) will reboot.
    8. Once this device boot up and ready to use, you can download root-checker form Google Play to check root status.
    9. Finish, now your Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) already have root access.
